This project for LloydsDirect by Lloyds Pharmacy ( used to be Echo Pharmacy) is one of my favorites so far. Coming direct from the client I had the opportunity to work hand to hand with the creative team lead by Andy Ainger right when they were starting to redesign and rebrand the product and online presence. 
It has resulted in a beautiful and cohesive brand exercise, really fun, optimistic and light. 
A bright side on the health industry in our current times, Echo, whose mantra is “We believe in people not pills” and with a strong mission to deliver medicines easily and stress free has bet for a colorful, gentle and sincere approach to their branding.

	David lives in Windsor and works for a cleaning construction company based in Bracknell, 30 mins drive from his house.
He is a health and safety and environmental manager, spending a lot of work from home or travelling around the UK to different sites. A few years ago he had quite a severe knee operation, so uses a walking stick some of the time for long days. He takes medication to ease his blood pressure.

	Jack is a food and content journalist and lives on the coast near Brighton. Food and wellbeing are some of the Jacks passionate about, Jack has green fingers and uses space in the garden to grow food and herbs.

Jack loves running and being in nature, as someone who suffers from depression and anxiety. Jack takes Fluoxetine to help combat this illness, because of the busy lifestyle they don't want to spend the time at their local pharmacy that's located 5 miles away especially as they don't have a car.

	Jumana studied my pharmacy degree at King's College London. Her journey with Echo started in 2017, and a year later, she became a Senior Pharmacist. Her role involves clinically checking prescriptions, ensuring patients receive the correct medication and training dispensary assistants.&#38;nbsp;

Finding the style


	Finding Echo’s style through market researh, strategy and style exploration
	First step for my is always understand the company and the landscape where it lives. The goal is to find what makes their product distinctive and to be true to their core values. 
Looking at pharma, technology-driven healthcare, medical services and the wellness industry in the UK we realized that the best approach was to take from the regional identity and enhance it with a&#38;nbsp; bright color palette outside the very common green and blue of pharma. We also knew we would be using characters to tell personal stories of real people.

	System&#38;nbsp;
	Following the brand principles, we decided to build a composition system made up of mixed and matched illustrations from a library of assets. 

The illustrations can be a mix of specific themes from the article and visual accents.&#38;nbsp;

CompositionsThe themes are: Health, fertility, periods, birth control, pms, conception, mental health and annual check up. The assets collections included objects specificaly related to each theme, abstract elements, hands, medical tools, medicines, clothing, food, plants, charts, Maven devices and product icons.

	Self Expressions
Series that I made during a trip, was a good time to collect all my thoughts and feelings. I’ve always been someone trying to control extreme moods, and it’s always been dificult to understand and deal with. But I was finally able to let it out and to confront it with illustration. It felt nice. &#38;nbsp;
	
	
	1. Some days are good, some are bad. Sometimes I see it easy, sometimes it seems really hard. I have it in me or I lost it. It feels like I own it, olé! It feels empty and very sad.

	3. Different lenses, same reality. Attitudes that not always depend on me.

	4. I want the bright pink optimistic lenses but a cloud descends over me, with little notice and there’s darkness. It feels out of my control, I want this cloud to go away, to disintegrate, but sometimes it stays… for days.

5. On the bright days I feel like a superhero, I am capable of it all. I am the best, I feel competitive and with unlimited amounts of fuel.

	6. Supernatural, I have dreams where I am able to gravitate and reach the ceiling, I gaze over people’s heads. Never in the open though.

	7. Days go by and with not much variation in my little world, perspective starts to shift. I dream about this version of myself that throws continuous fits and screams and hits and explodes but nobody hears and nobody knows.

I worked with the team @Something New ( formerly Output) for a whole year rebranding Oscar.
It was an extraordinary experience to build up a visual identity through illustration and a beautiful challenge to define and establish a style that can grow organically and keep its consistency. 
I worked on 3 main areas: characters, illustration spots and icons, to cover all the graphic needs of the website, app, promotional printed materials and internal needs.

	Brand Book
	The Oscar illustration style is fun, but also grown up. It has a handmade feel and it’s expressive enough to convey human feelings and an overall brand lightheartedness. The illustrations act as little touches of joy throughout our materials and products, to keep things feeling fresh.

Character DesignFrom an initial concept illustration of a group of people I developed a whole set of rules and ideas to generate an unlimited amount of characters. From body types to facial features to expressions, Oscar characters cover all goings of life keeping the style consistent.

	As Oscar is approaching the Health Care System from a very unique position, there were many new concepts and services to explain to members and prospective members. Being able to do it so using a simple and direct illustration style was very important. The spots are mid way between icons and full on illustration, they are effective, fun and easy to understand.

I have the pleasure to have an ongoing collaboration with Maven Clinic. They are an amazing company with clear objectives and a commitment to women’s and family health. 

For the past year they have been working on redesigning their look and their products. The style should be&#38;nbsp;contemporary, recognizable, inclusive and timeless. It should be relatable for today’s modern women.&#38;nbsp;


My work focused on creating a cohesive style through characters, spot illustrations and icons. &#38;nbsp;

	Goals for a consistent branding&#38;nbsp;
	Coming from the Curriculum Illustration project we realized we needed to be more expressive, more modern and direct. The members should be represented relatable yet aspirational, the tone should be uplifting. We started looking for some playful and sincere moments.&#38;nbsp;

We also decided to go all vector, and simplify the illustration style for it to be more flexible with a library that allows the Maven’s design team to use, combine and create based on their inmediate needs.&#38;nbsp;

	Product icons and thumbnails
	It was important for the branding team to add a touch of the illustration style to the product functionality. I designed icons and thumbnails that are unique for Maven adding color and humanity across the different screens and sections.

Maven is a virtual clinic dedicated to women’s and family health. I’ve been lucky to be able to collaborate with their amazing team in different projects. 
The first one being the Maven Curriculum, a prep kit for working motherhood.
